The Leading Individuals to Vital Employment (LIVE) program helps connect noncustodial parents to community resources and break the cycle of unemployment and underemployment. Through strategic partnerships with leading training providers across Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis parishes, we offer pathways to sustainable careers that enable participants to support their families and meet their obligations.
LIVE Program Pathway
Step 1: Apply Through DCFS
Individuals apply, and eligibility is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Step 2: Evaluation
Upon enrollment, a LIVE Case Manager evaluates each participant’s case to identify barriers and connect them to the appropriate community-based supportive services.
Step 3: Training and Services
Eligible LIVE participants receive education, training, work readiness services, and job placement support.
Step 4: Review Progress
Participation is monitored and documented, while ensuring provided support remains consistent.

The LIVE Program supports noncustodial parents in building employment skills, accessing education and training, and achieving long-term career stability. Participants receive guidance on job readiness, resume building, interview preparation, and workplace expectations. The program also connects participants to community-based services, such as parenting resources and legal support.
No. While employment is a core focus, the program also supports career advancement, job retention, education, and personal development. Certain services, such as parenting orders and assistance with expungements are provided after participants reach milestones in the program.
The program serves noncustodial parents involved with child support services. Eligibility for specific services is determined on a case by case basis. Participants should speak with their child support caseworker for guidance on eligibility and available opportunities in their parish.
Many services are available upon enrollment; however, some services are provided later in the program after participants reach certain milestones, such as legal support for parenting orders.
Yes. Participants can receive assistance with basic education skills, such as reading, math, or computer literacy, and can work toward earning a HiSET or GED. The program can also connect participants to vocational training or certification programs
Supportive services may include uniforms, tools, work supplies, transportation assistance, and other resources needed to start or maintain employment. Access depends on program eligibility and individual participant needs.
Yes. While LIVE does not cancel or waive child support obligations, the program will suspend enforcement actions if you are actively participating in the program. Your LIVE case manager will closely monitor your case to ensure you are actively participating in all recomended activities, helping you successfuly complete the program. Enforcement actions may resume when participation in the program ends before successfully completing all aspects of the program.
